What happens if the device is unplugged?

How long has Yipii been operating?

Since 2010. The company traded as Dazzle Panel Limited and its tracking service was known as DP:Tracking and Tracking.com.mt. It was renamed to Yipii Ltd in June 2025. Yipii is an established Maltese telematics provider, not a new company.

Is Yipii the same company as Dazzle Panel and DP:Tracking?

Yes. Dazzle Panel, DP:Tracking and Tracking.com.mt are all earlier names for the same Malta business that now trades as Yipii. Existing accounts, devices and historical data carried over unchanged.

Does Yipii offer hardwired GPS trackers, or only OBD plug-in devices?

Both. Yipii offers OBD plug-and-play, cigarette lighter plug-in for Y-plates and rentals, hardwired professional installation, and battery-powered asset trackers. Hardwired fitting is carried out by Yipii's own network of auto-electricians and installation sites in Malta. Hardwired installs support CAN bus, immobilisation, RFID and iButton driver ID, and concealed fitment.

Is Yipii only for small fleets and SMEs?

No. Yipii serves single private vehicles, small fleets of 1 to 10, mid-size and large fleets, consortiums, groups of companies, and enterprise operations across multiple sites and entities. The same platform scales across all of them.

Does Yipii support video telematics, fuel monitoring and temperature tracing?

Yes, all three. Video telematics and dashcam, fuel monitoring, and temperature monitoring for cold chain are part of the platform, alongside CAN bus engine data and driver behaviour monitoring.

Can Yipii immobilise or cut off a vehicle engine remotely?

Yes, on hardwired installations. Immobilisation and engine cut-off need a wired connection to the vehicle, so they are fitted by our auto-electricians rather than available on a plug-in OBD device.

Location recording

A vehicle tracking system records where a vehicle is and where it has been. A device in the vehicle determines position from satellite signals and transmits it over a mobile network to a server, which stores the history and presents it on a map. Update frequency is typically every few seconds while the vehicle moves.

Geofencing

A geofence is a boundary drawn on a map. The system records when a vehicle crosses it and can raise an alert on entry or exit. In practice this is used for depots, customer sites and restricted areas, and it removes the need to read a map to answer whether a vehicle arrived.

Driver identification

Where several people share a vehicle, the system can attribute each trip to an individual. Identification is by a card, a token, a Bluetooth tag or an app sign-in. This is what makes per-driver reporting meaningful, and it is also the point at which data protection obligations apply, because the data then concerns an identifiable person.

Installation types

Devices are fitted in one of several ways. A plug-in unit uses the diagnostic port and can be moved between vehicles. A hardwired unit is connected to the vehicle wiring, concealed, and able to reach the vehicle data bus. A battery-powered unit needs no vehicle power and suits trailers and equipment.
